I pray all is well.

I received a call from the Wise County Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Ashley Belcher on Thursday, January 3, 2024 @2:16pm advising that the death of my son Jowell Travis Le Gendre was declared a homicide. She stated that she had not seen the report and would contact me to go over it with me once received. ACA Belcher also advised that she sent a letter to the Medical Examiner’s Office instructing them not to release the report to me due to the fact that they are now investigating a homicide.

I picked up a copy of Jowell’s amended death certificate from the Virginia Department of Health last week. It listed the Primary Cause of Death as MANUAL STRANGULATION! There were no additional causes listed. It did not address the keyhole stab wound to Jowell’s left temple! It did not address the profuse swelling, scarring and discoloration from the blunt force trauma to the left side of his face and head! It did not address his caved in back on his left side! It did not address the shoe print on his front torso! It did not address the absence of an inflated left  lung! It did not address his abdominal organs forced forward and upward into his chest! It did not address the cut on the tip of his penis, nor the sliced flesh along the shaft of his penis!!! It did not address why Dr Happy Earl Smith, Red Onion State Prison Physician, administered Narcan. Especially since Jowell complained of being unexplainably tired the week leading up to his murder. To the point of sharing that he had been asleep from around 10am Wednesday, August 23, 2023 to after 9am Thursday, August 24, 2023 during our final phone call which would turn out to be the last time I heard my son’s voice. It only addressed his abnormally dark-blackened neck!

This means the murderer(s) tortured, bludgeoned and mutilated my son’s body and STILL had to squeeze the breath out of his body in order for his spirit to leave this realm!!! With all that going on… Why was Narcan administered? 

I have questions! I want the names, rank and title of ALL STAFF, ADMINISTRATORS and OFFICIALS on duty Thursday, August 24, 2023 at Red Onion State Prison!!!

It appears their initial intention was to cover up my son’s murder as made evident by the VADOC’s bogus Press Release stating a cellmate reported that my son “fell from the top bunk unconscious”! The Chief Medical Examiner, Dr Amy Marie Tharpe initially stated she couldn’t figure out what caused my son’s death and had the audacity to ask me if Jowell had any underlying health issues!!!

Thanks to Divine Intervention and your continued support, they ruled Jowell’s death a homicide! Now it appears as if their intent is to use the cellmate who was placed in Jowell’s cell 30 minutes before “being found unconscious “ as a scapegoat and blame him for the murder!!!

My son was incarcerated the last 5 years of his life due to a Wrongful Conviction! I do not want this to happen to that young man if he is innocent! There was a DISTINCT keyhole stab wound to my son’s left temple with abrasions at both ends of the hole. It was frozen in place as a perfect key mold due to rigor mortis and Jowell’s body being refrigerated for over 4 days before I was able to lay eyes on my child. I don’t recall any protocol allowing prisoners to have cell keys in a Supermax Prison!!!

I Am still waiting for ACA Belcher to get back to me with the report findings. This Thursday will be 2 weeks since we last spoke. Although, I will not be able to share the findings with you all until after the investigation, I will post an update next week to let you know whether or not she has made contact.

Thank you to all who have contacted their elected officials regarding my son’s murder and the surmounting atrocities that continue to take place at Red Onion State Prison and multiple VADOC facilities across Virginia!!! It is high time to hold these serial killers accountable and implement the destruction of the corrupt murderous MULTIBILLION DOLLAR institution that is the Virginia Department of Correction!!!
