Justice For Joseph Ejeh

The Issue

Petition To: Bellevue Police Department, King County Prosecutor's Office, Independent Force Investigative Team - King County, Bellevue Mayor, Bellevue City Council Members, and King County Council Members.

The Family of Joseph Agada Ejeh seeks answers regarding his murder at the hands of Bellevue Police.

On the evening of December 5, 2023, Joseph Ejeh was murdered by Bellevue police after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds in front of an LA Fitness at the Kelsey Creek Center shopping mall in Bellevue, Washington.

His family was not informed of his passing until December 12, a week after the media had already released his name to the public and his death was ruled a homicide by the medical examiner.

The medical examiner also initially refused to release Joseph’s personal belongings, including his wallet and phone to his family without explanation causing them more unnecessary stress and harm.

The Independent Force Investigative Team - King County has continued to refuse to release the names of all of the officers involved in the shooting.

Joseph, a 44 year-old Nigerian born Seattle resident and IT specialist, was a loving son, brother, and uncle. He was full of life and known to have the heartiest laugh. He came to the United States for a better life, but had it tragically cut short by the very people meant to protect him.

His loss devastated a community both within and outside the United States but has especially impacted his family who are forever scarred by this senseless tragedy and are still in disbelief regarding his passing.

Joseph’s life mattered and his family deserves answers.

The family of Joseph Ejeh is calling on both the community and elected officials to stand with them in demanding the following:

  • For the Independent Force Investigative Team - King County to release all of the names of the officers involved in the murder of Joseph Ejeh on December 5, 2023 NOW!
  • For the Mayor of the City of Bellevue, Bellevue City Council, and King County Council to support the family’s demands for transparency from the Bellevue Police Department and King County Independent Investigative Team throughout the investigation process in a timely manner, not months or years after Joseph’s murder.

Please support the fight for justice for Joseph Ejeh by signing and sharing this petition so that his family can get the answers they deserve.
