We had such high hopes for SB1170. When it began, it was to change the fact that you could not be charged with felony murder if you were not the individual who committed the murder. The law states that you don't have to commit a murder but be with the person who does commit the murder, to be charged with felony murder. SB1170 would have changed it to state you would be charged with reckless homicide instead of felony murder. Meaning the sentence would be less time to serve. Jonathan is now serving a life sentence for a murder he did not commit, while the actual murderer was given a plea to only serve 25 years. How is this justice? The bill was amended again and again. It has now passed the general assembly but did not include the change in the charges. We also know that Jonathan is not the only person in this situation. Jonathan has served 19years for a murder he did not commit. The court does not deny this. This is the law. Jonathan's attorneys and the judicial system have let us down. Please pray for changes. God Bless everyone!
