Justice for Jeff: Stop the Execution of U.S. Army Veteran Sgt. Jeffrey Hutchinson
The Issue
Sgt. Jeffrey Glenn Hutchinson is a U.S. Army veteran of Operation Desert Storm, a father, and a man who has always maintained his innocence. He is scheduled to be executed on May 1, 2025, by the state of Florida for the murder of his partner and three children — a conviction that rests on flawed testimony, biased prosecution, and evidence that was never fully investigated.
This is not a case about “new evidence.” It is a case about ignored facts, procedural failure, and injustice.
The conviction against Jeff was built entirely on a 911 call that several friends and family members say was not his voice — yet their testimonies were never heard by the jury. The two witnesses who claimed it was Jeff’s voice had cut deals with prosecutors while facing federal charges of their own. They were close to the lead investigator in Jeff’s case — a conflict that was never disclosed.
No physical evidence ties Jeff to the crime. In fact, crucial evidence that could have exonerated him was never tested:
DNA under Jeff’s fingernails was collected but never analyzed.
Blood spatter found on the soles of his feet suggests he was unconscious during the attack.
A nylon stocking found in the yard — possibly a disguise — was dismissed without investigation.
Jeff was visibly beaten the night of the murders, with head injuries never explained by prosecutors.
Even more disturbing: Jeff was shackled and fitted with a stun belt during his trial. He was electrically shocked for trying to speak and ultimately barred from testifying in his own defense. The jury never heard his voice. They never saw the full truth.
Jeff is not just a man on death row. He is a Gulf War veteran who served his country, who lives with PTSD and ADHD, and who was denied competent counsel and a fair trial. His trial lawyer refused to call expert witnesses, ignored available forensic science, and missed his post-conviction appeal deadline. In 2025, two boxes of overlooked case files were recovered — further proof that the truth has been buried for decades.
The State of Florida cannot allow this execution to proceed without full review of the facts. The stakes are too high.
We, the undersigned, demand the following:
That Governor Ron DeSantis immediately issue a stay of execution for Sgt. Jeffrey Hutchinson.
That the Office of Executive Clemency fully review this case, including suppressed testimony and unexamined forensic materials.
That the public be granted access to all available evidence in this case to ensure transparency, justice, and accountability.
This is not a question of politics. It is a question of humanity.
Please sign and share this petition. Help us stop the execution of an innocent man.
