On the tragic evening of Sunday, August 13, 2023, a senseless act of violence forever changed the life of Jalyne Evans-Jones. Jalyne and her husband Eric Jones went upstairs to their neighbor's unit at The Veranda Apartments in Lawrenceville, Georgia, seeking a peaceful resolution to the incessant blaring music that had disrupted their home all day. Tragically, a simple request for consideration led to Jalyne being shot, leaving her with severe injuries and a long journey to recovery.

We stand here today united in our demand for justice on behalf of Jalyne Evans-Jones. We urge Governor Brian Kemp and Gwinnett County District Attorney (D.A.) to take immediate action by revoking Alejandro Querales Morales's bond and upgrading his charge from a misdemeanor Reckless Conduct to two counts of felony Attempted Murder.

The facts surrounding this case are clear and indisputable. Alejandro Querales Morales intentionally discharged his firearm towards innocent individuals who posed no threat or harm. This act was not only an attack on Jalyne but also endangered the lives of her husband Eric Jones as well as other residents present at that time.

It is essential that we hold perpetrators accountable for their actions in order to ensure public safety and prevent such heinous acts from recurring within our community.
