🚨Justice for Impact Charter: Stop the Illegal Takeover of Dr. Chakesha Scott's School
The Issue
We must stop the Louisiana Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE) illegal and unconstitutional takeover attempt of Impact Charter School's non-profit 501c3 governing organization, Education Explosion, Inc. which governs Impact Charter, a thriving, Black-founded and led charter school in Baker, Louisiana.
Despite over 10 years of academic success, consistent clean financial audits, and national recognition, the Louisiana State BESE Board has launched a politically motivated attack to wrongfully seize control of the school’s federal nonprofit organization, defame its founder, Dr. Chakesha Scott, and dismantle the success of its students and staff. Impact Charter is the last single-site charter school in the parish/county that is still standing strong.
This attack is based on a false narrative- a state audit was politically triggered to be used as ammunition for the takeover. When no wrongdoing was found, the Louisiana Legislative Auditors (LLA) manipulated facts from Dr. Scott’s personal life, school operations, and supporting organizations to misinform the public and frame her as mismanaging funds - all without any charges, arrests, or convictions.
🚨This is not just an attack on one school, it’s an attack on nonprofit organizations, Black-led institutions, and the rights of legally incorporated 501(c)(3) entities across the country.
The legality of BESE’s actions is already being challenged in federal court, yet they are continuing their infiltrated takeover in the middle of the school year, disrupting students, teachers, and operations just weeks before State testing.
This type of State governmental overreach into a private federal 501c3 nonprofit corporation has never been attempted in the history of our country. If this is allowed to happen here, what stops the government from seizing control of any successful Black-led school, nonprofit, or business?
We Demand:
📢 An immediate halt to BESE’s unlawful infiltrated takeover of Impact Charter School.
📢 The reinstatement of the school’s rightful governance with the return of Dr. Scott’s leadership.
📢 A federal investigation into the politically motivated audit and infiltrated takeover efforts.
📢 Full legal accountability for those responsible for defaming Dr. Scott and disrupting the school’s operations.
This is about justice, educational equity, and protecting Black leadership in education. Stand with us to stop this unconstitutional takeover before it’s too late.
