Our office requested that the Judge to issue a lifetime securing order to prevent this defendant from owning, harboring or caring for any animals in the future. Unfortunately, the Judge declined to follow our recommendation, issuing a five-year securing order and a sentence of 5 years of probation.

While our office respectfully disagrees with the decision to not impose a lifetime securing order at the defendant’s sentencing in June 2023, the Court made its decision and any change to this decision would have to come from the Court. Our office does not have the authority to extend the securing order as requested by the petitioner.
