Justice For Gabriela and Leeyan and Katya

Justice For Gabriela and Leeyan and Katya
The Issue
6/7/22 Usman Shahid, driving 81 mph on Blake Lane, crashed into another vehicle resulting in 3 OHS students being run over while walking home from school, leaving 2 dead 20 years after an OHS student was struck and killed by an OHS student in 2002, when media dubbed Blake Lane the "Vienna's racetrack."
6/7/23 One year later, Blake Lane remains a racetrack upon which there have been at least 15 reported crashes since 6/7/22. 2 in the last 10 days. We, the constituents of Providence district, community members of Blake Lane, parents of children who walk on Blake Lane, and students who walk Blake Land insist VDOT,FCDOT, FCPD and Supervisor Palchik do better to protect students who walk Gabriela and Leeyan's path daily to go to and from school. These entities have proposed reasonable long term improvements coming over the next several years. These entities have also promised improvements to provide immediate and short term tools to mitigate the current dangers to children walking along Blake to school. Nothing has been done to reduce speed near the school or about the fact that cars from multiple directions may turn into a crosswalk with children in it at the same time. What are they waiting for?
Immediate action is required to effect change for all motorists and pedestrians but especially students on Blake Lane and so the losses of all on 6/7/22 are never repeated.
Thank you in advance for your support.
