Justice for Dante Damien Schubert - Petition to oppose bail after Fatal Stabbing
The Issue
On the 12th of September 2026, our beloved Dante Damien Schubert, aged 20, was brutally stabbed by a minor family member at home in Reiger Park.
He did not make it to hospital. He collapsed and died at home, a few minutes after the stabbing, in front of family. His blood was on the floor where we live. A young life was taken in his own home, the one place he should have been safe.
He was a loving son, brother, partner and friend. He had his whole future ahead of him. His family, his girlfriend, and the community of Reiger Park are traumatized.
A case was opened as CAS 78/09/2026 at Reiger Park SAPS. The accused is a minor relative who lives close to us.
We are pleading with the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) and the Court to DENY BAIL when the accused applies.
WHY BAIL MUST BE DENIED:
1. He died at the scene: The accused stabbed him and he died minutes later at home. This was a fatal attack. It must be charged as murder, not assault. Murder is a Schedule 6 offence.
2. Our safety: The accused is family and knows where we live. Witnesses are family members who were present when he died. If he is released, he can intimidate and threaten witnesses.
3. We will not be safe if he is released: The accused is currently in custody, but if he is granted bail and allowed to return, it will be traumatic for us as the person who killed our loved one in our own home will be free.
4. Risk of fleeing if released: The accused is currently in custody. If he is granted bail, he has every reason to run away and not attend trial.
5. Interest of Justice (CPA Section 60): Releasing him is not in the interest of justice. The community demands accountability.
We are not seeking revenge. We are a peaceful family asking that the law takes its full course and justice is served for Dante Damien Schubert. The NPA must oppose bail.
Please sign and share. We will take every signature to court on bail day.
