I'm writing this petition today on behalf of Dantavious Applewhite who is currently serving time in the Mississippi Department Of Corrections for a crime he didn't commit. He was charged with Capital Murder & Aggravated Assault in August of 2017, and convicted of those charges in March of 2022 on the grounds of aiding and abetting. Which basically means he was with the person who committed the crime or helped commit the crime in some way. He was sentenced to life in prison with an additional 15 years for aggravated assault. The 15 years were ran concurrent with the life sentence, and he was given possiblity of parole. Mr. Applewhite had no prior convictions, and there is no evidence proving or showing that he committed or acted in this crime in no type of way. He was convicted on hearsay. All because one witness stated that he seen Mr. Applewhite with a firearm. The witness stated that he didn't see Applewhite firing the weapon, and only seen one shooter. The witness stated that the person he seen firing that weapon was Darrell Walter who was also convicted of the same charges as Applewhite years prior.

We've filed prior petitions of the behalf of Applewhite, and have even went before the Mississippi Supreme Court with no success. I'm asking for everyone's help with justice for Mr. Applewhite. He has been incarcerated for 7 years now for a crime that he didn't commit, and were trying to bring him home to his kids and family. 

Mr. Applewhite is a upcoming artist, and have been profiled for his distinctive tattoo markings on his body and face. Witnesses constantly stated that they didn't like Applewhite's markings. Witnesses also stated that they didn't see Applewhite actually commit any crime, but he looks like the devil. That's no reason to send an innocent man to prison for the remainder of his life. 

Again I'm asking for everyone's help with bringing this young man home..
