Fifteen-year-old Daniel Furr vanished without a trace. Just four days later, a badly decomposed body was pulled from a local brick quarry. But almost nothing about the body matched Daniel.

The remains were described as 5'4", roughly 90 pounds, with shoulder-length black hair, and possibly belonging to a man in his mid-20s. Daniel was 15 years old. He was 5'10", 150 pounds, with short brown hair. The level of decomposition was extreme, far beyond what should’ve been present after just four days.

Still, the body was identified as Daniel. The confirmation? Dental records—ones that were four years old and hadn’t been updated since he was a child.

Too many things don’t add up. The truth about what happened to Daniel Furr has never been thoroughly investigated. His family deserves real answers. Not red tape. Not silence. Not more years of doubt.

This petition isn’t just about raising awareness. It’s a plea—an urgent call for action from the community and those who’ve carried this weight for nearly three decades. We are asking the newly elected District Attorney of Pontotoc County, District 22, and his investigative team to listen.

We are also calling on the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation to assist in this case and take incoming tips seriously, especially those that continue to come in year after year. Each message, each lead, could hold the key to the truth. This case deserves fresh eyes and real resources.

We ask them all to look again. To reopen Daniel Furr’s case and give it the full, transparent investigation it never received.

Daniel Furr was only 15 years old. His case has sat unanswered for nearly three decades. And while other matters may feel more immediate, the truth is—this is immediate for the people who loved him. What happened to Daniel still haunts this community, and the questions we raised in our investigation should not be ignored:
