The victim was chased across the parking lot and killed in the office where his family worked alongside him. His wife and child witnessed the unimaginable: their loved one murdered in cold blood before their eyes.

The suspect, Yordanis Cobos-Martinez, was arrested at the scene, still holding the weapon. He now faces capital murder charges and is being held in Dallas County Jail. Records show he had prior arrests in Florida and Texas, including charges of indecency with a child and assault. Despite that history, he remained in the community until this horrific crime occurred.

This is not just about one family’s tragedy — it is about public safety and accountability. A man with a violent record should never have been in a position to commit this act. The system failed to stop him, and an innocent man paid with his life.

We demand a full measure of justice. That means ensuring Cobos-Martinez is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law for capital murder. It means transparency about why someone with a history of arrests was free to commit such violence. And it means enacting stronger safeguards so that violent offenders cannot continue to slip through the cracks, endangering families across Texas.

Every person deserves to feel safe where they live and work. No wife or child should have to watch a loved one be murdered in front of them. Dallas officials and Texas lawmakers must take immediate action to strengthen protections, enforce accountability, and deliver justice for this family.

We call on Dallas County District Attorney John Creuzot, the Dallas Police Department, and Texas Governor Greg Abbott to pursue justice for the victim’s family and to address the systemic failures that allowed this tragedy to happen.
