Right-to-Know Update

UPDATE: OUR WORK FOR CALLIE CONTINUES 🐾

We have received the Lancaster County District Attorney’s Office’s response to the Right-to-Know request we filed seeking records related to the investigation into Callie’s death. 

The only records released to us were media communications. The remainder of our request was denied, with the District Attorney’s Office citing exemptions under Pennsylvania’s Right-to-Know Law.

After reviewing the response, we are planning to appeal the denial.

We want to be clear: this is not the end of our efforts, and we do not intend to lose the momentum that so many of you have helped build.

An appeal is part of the process available under Pennsylvania law to seek further review of an agency’s response. We are carefully reviewing the reasons provided by the District Attorney’s Office and preparing our appeal.

Once it is filed, we plan to share it publicly. Transparency has been one of our priorities from the beginning, and that includes being transparent with all of you about what we request, what we receive, what we do not receive, and what steps we take next.

There may be periods when there isn't a major public development to share, but please do not mistake quiet for inaction. This work takes time. We are still here. We are still asking questions. We are still pursuing the appropriate avenues available to us. And we are still working toward meaningful change in Callie’s memory.

Our goal remains the same: transparency, accountability, and changes that can help protect other animals in the future.

As always, this campaign is not about harassment or targeting individuals. We ask our We ask our community to continue approaching Callie’s story with compassion, respect, and a focus on meaningful change.
