"Dogs abandoned on the streets, cats left in boxes, pets pay the price as Dubai expats flee the crisis.
Dubai’s streets are becoming silent witnesses to a growing crisis.
As fear spreads and families flee escalating tensions, countless pets, dogs, kittens, even rabbits, are being left behind. Animals who once knew warmth, safety, and love are now wandering unfamiliar streets, confused and waiting for owners who may never return.
Veterinarians report a surge in distressing requests for euthanasia, while others are seeing an overwhelming number of abandoned animals brought to their doors. Shelters and rescuers are stretched beyond their limits, trying to keep up with the rising tide of need.
This isn’t just a side effect of conflict, it’s a heartbreaking reminder that in times of crisis, the most vulnerable are often forgotten.
More than two million pets live across the UAE, many of them dependent on humans for survival. They don’t understand war. They don’t understand fear. They only understand loyalty.
Now more than ever, compassion must not be abandoned.
