The Issue

On July 31, 1992 Mark Sotka kidnapped and brutally murdered Angel Ormston by stabbing her multiple times. He then hid her body and went back to college and ate pizza with his friends without a care in the world.

Angel's body wasn't found for another agonizing 5 months. While the city, state and nation looked for Angel, Mark went on with his life as if it had never happened. Angel's badly decomposed body was found on December 15, 1992 lying face down in a water filled ditch.

On December 31, 1992, Mark was arrested for the kidnapping and murder of Angel Ormston. He later signed a detailed statement admitting that he punched Angel in the face and stabbed her including twice near her heart. Why would he do this...because he was a coward, living a double life with two girlfriends. He caused 30 years of pain to us, because he didn't want anyone to know his truth.

The loss of Angel devastated her family, friends and neighbors. The community lost an amazing young woman, who was an Angel on earth before being taken by the hands of a thoughtless and calculating killer. Mark has proven he is emotionally reactive and he will kill again if released.

In order to avoid the death penalty Mark plead guilty and was sentenced in February 1993. We truly believe that any murderer that takes a plea bargain to avoid the death penalty, should not be granted parole.  That plea saved his life, the very thing he took away from our Angel.

At just 16 years old, I promised Angel's family that I would fight his parole for the rest of my life. In 2013, I had my first opportunity at fulfilling that lifelong promise to Angel's family .  By launching a campaign to stop the parole of Mark J. Sotka in his first visit in front of the State of Ohio Parole Board.  I asked, pleaded, and begged the parole board to send him back to his cell for another 10 years for me, and they did!!! One of the best moments of my life. I am asking you to join me by signing this petition so we can do it again!!!

We, the undersigned, STRONGLY OPPOSE the release of Mark J Sotka. We respectfully ask the parole board to look him in the eyes and send him back to his cell for another 10 years to honor the memory of the beautiful blonde, 17 years old named Angel that deserved a chance to live.

Justice for Angel means he serves LIFE BEHIND BARS for taking the life of Angel Ormston in this heinous, brutal and disgusting crime that he admittedly committed.
