Show Safer Food ratings within delivery platforms.
The Issue
This petition exists to call on all three major players within the food delivery space to have more Takeaway Transparency. This petition is here to ask Just Eat, Uber Eats and Deliveroo to be more transparent about the restaurants they host on their services.
Even more so recently, there have been stories of 0 rated restaurants being allowed on these platforms as well as people setting up fake restaurants and getting them listed on all three platforms. This is not acceptable.
This petition aims are for the delivery platforms to;
- Display embedded and correct food hygiene ratings for all establishments they host on their platforms. The current system of linking to the Food Standards Agency is unacceptable and not good enough.
- Be more transparent about allergens. A generic message is not okay. Restaurants should have to list all possible allergens and these should be available within the app.
- Be more transparent about specific dietary requirements. All restaurants should be obligated to include information for vegetarian and vegan dishes as well as if meat is, for example, Kosher or Halal. Customers should be able to make an informed decision.
It is possible for all major players to work together with us so that there is one set of standards across all apps. This will help customers to make more informed decisions, keep customers safer, encourage platform and restaurant competition as well as, most importantly, drive up standards.
It’s the law in Wales and Northern Ireland that FSA ratings must be displayed in a prominent place within a physical business location, we believe this should also be the law in England. This law should also extend to online platforms like Just Eat, Uber Eats and Deliveroo. Platforms should, however, implement this change voluntarily without the need for legislation.
Most platforms use stars for their ratings system so a system of green circles for food hygiene, in line with the FSA, would be useful for cohesion across all platforms. The images on our website have mockups of possible solutions but platforms are more than welcome to reach out to us via https://saferfood.info/platforms to discuss their ideas.
Please visit https://saferfood.info for more information. Visit our share page if you’d like to directly contact these companies via social media or email, it really does help. If you’re press who would like to ask anything about the petition or a member of the public wanting to provide a food delivery horror story please contact us using the correct email link at https://saferfood.info/contact and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible.
Have a lovely day and stay safe when ordering from any of these platforms. We’ve linked to the official FSA tool that you should use to check ratings for now https://saferfood.info/ratingcheck.
