There is absolutely no denying the Kai Parker fandom. We've been here. Dying for more, for years. We got a taste of what a come back would be like with Legacies. It wasn't enough. I will admit that those had been the only episodes I watched. The ONLY reason I caved and started Legacies (My heart had some serious healing to do after Originals, okay!) was because I peeped Kai Parker on a thread about epic bad guys. It sparked a 3 day conversation about how magnificent his character was and how some of us felt like he was shorted. He was, and we all know it. We were then informed of his SHORT LIVED return. Not cool guys, not cool. So to Julie Plec, Kevin Williamson, Chris Wood, CW and whoever and all-ever has the power to complete this heroic task, I have a proposal. Give Kai is long overdue spin-off. Not only is Kai Parker possibly THE BEST character written in this particular universe, he would be the PERFECT candidate for a type of show we don't see enough of, and honestly now that I think about it I don't think ever. I'm talking about a show centered around a villain. (Not that he's really a villain he's just cosmically misunderstood) I know we had Klaus, but was he really that bad? Okay sure, maybe. But that's irrelevant. This is about Kai. A poor baby-hearted little lamb who just wants to shine. Would you deny him that? Look at his face. Tell me you don't want to give him anything he asks for. You can't. Because even when Kai Parker is looking down on you with his crocodile smile and your still beating heart in his hand, you want more. He is absolutely magnetic. Am I just saying that because Chris Wood is criminally adorable? NO. While that is in fact true, he is also criminally underrated. Sure this petition is leaning towards comical, so I can play it off as a joke when it fails and my soul screams as it perishes into a void of disappointment, but this planets audacity to downplay the man that is Chris Wood actually hurts my heart. Literally, it's cramping at the thought that there are people out there who don't know how phenomenal he is. For a human being to be that beautiful on the inside is a rarity. His IDONTMIND campaign pulled me out of some unhealthy habits I've been using as coping mechanisms. I started asking myself things like 'Is it reasonable to hide this feeling? What hurts more, how I really feel or pretending to feel differently?' To say I was shocked to find out it was his campaign is a serious understatement. I had no idea but honestly I think that makes it all the more epic. We've gone off track so I'll bring it back around. We don't need to bring up the whole beheading thing OBVIOUSLY because when dabbling in a world of immortal creatures the dead never die right? The cycles are endless and the possibilities shift like fractals in a kaleidoscope. Kai Parker was said to need a redemption arc once upon a time. Maybe. I can't say I would hate that, but one of the things I loved about his character was his ability to consider good deeds, get us pulled in by the prospect, and then BAM! He does something deliciously dastardly. It was fun to pretend we liked seeing him as a good guy. We love Kai as a bad guy. We love even more to see him scheme. If ever there was a singular character of the series that deserved this it is Kai 555HIKAI Parker. And if ever an actor was deserving of such a monumental opportunity to have their own show, it's Chris Wood. What better way to make it all happen, than to give Chris Wood the focal role of his own show as Kai Parker? If you aren't sold you either haven't met Kai or you're a Bennett witch. And even then, aren't you up for a little reunion? I know I am.
