On 04/24/2020 at 1:00pm 7-year-old Emilia Castanos, who is an American citizen, was taken from the family she has been living with in Miami Florida for more than a year. Emilia started living with her father Eric Castanos and his family after they discovered about the abuse she had been suffering while living with her mother, Karen Berenguela.

On multiple instances under Karen's supervision, Emilia had been left home alone all night, left alone with her intoxicated maternal grandfather, suffered physical abuse (slapped, etc) and placed inside a cooler by her own mother as a form of punishment.

A year ago, Miami judge Marcia Cooke decided that Emilia should stay in this country with her paternal family under the supervision of her father, a 6-time Kickboxing World Champion. Eric is very loved by the community for his contribution in helping teens and the homeless through his foundation. Emilia's mother has appealed her case and Judge Marcia Cooke has ruled to return Emilia to her abusiu mother. It is unacceptable that Judge Cooke would go back on her ruling after reading a letter submitted by Karen's attorney. Even after all the evidence of abuse, including two witnesses who have seen the terrible living conditions of the mother's house in Chile, and Emilia's testimony in court, that the judge would change her mind so easily and strip Emilia from her father.

We have videos and documents to prove the abuse Karen inflicts on her own daughter and we are ready to fight this ruling and bring Emilia back to her family where she is safe and loved.
