UC Merced Professor of Engineering Abbas Ghassemi is a major anti-Semite. He has Twitter posts spreading anti-Semitic conspiracy theories about how he claims that Jews are planning to take over the world, while also denigrating Israel as "IsraHell" and saying Jews & Zionists are without compassion & scheming to take over the world. These are disgusting conspiracy theories that have weaponized against the Jewish people for millennia, from the pogroms in Russia to the Nazi regime to even today in white supremacist circles. Ghassemi also uses a site he made called "Jew World Order" to peddle these hateful lies further.

His Twitter account has been deactivated, but that is not enough. If the people in charge of the University of California in Merced care about making the campus equal for all students and facility, than Ghassemi should be fired immediately. Merely reprimanding him is not enough if we as a society want to make an example of those who spread hateful conspiracy theories and canards. American Jews should not have to worry about learning under professors who think of them as lesser for their culture.

With antisemitism increasing in America and around the globe, action must be taken now, or else it merely shows how bigotry is ignored if not downright tolerated in America's highest institutions.
