Dear Supporters, 

We all know how terribly some people treat animals, including wildlife, but thankfully some are arrogant enough to post video of their actions to Facebook and get caught. 

Last year, the group known previously as Pacific Balance Pinniped Society, and now called Pacific Balance Marine Management, posted a video of a man throwing a "bear banger" into a raft of sea lions.  This is probably a regular occurrence out on the water sadly, but because they filmed and posted it because they thought it was funny, the public saw it and concerned citizens immediately responded with complaints which have now led to charges against the individual involved. 

We are still fighting the proposal of the cull and permitted annual killing of seals and sea lions from starting.  We know it will cause tremendous suffering to these animals as is evidenced by the recklessness of the actions that brought about these charges. It will also devastate local marine ecosystems and harm other species. That is why we must keep pressure on the Minister of Fisheries and Oceans to not allow this bloody massacre to begin.
