As we all know this has been a very long fight in bringing Journi Baucum home to her mother Brianna Baucum. In August of 2020 (at the 12 month mark) Tarrant County OCOK and the Family Court decided to stop the Goal of "Family Reunification" even though Brianna completed not 1, but 2 psychological evaluations, completed parenting classes, completed therapy 100%, never missed any visits with her daughter, maintained a job, stable housing and maintained communication with OCOK workers. Once the goal by the Department changed the new plan rendered was to Terminate Brianna's Parental rights.
Brianna STILL continued to fight and so has the many supporters, as well as her defense team.
Feb 2021 the Tarrant County 360th District court allowed a public Pre-Trial proceeding to be viewed Nationwide. In this proceeding many viewers learned of the horrific childhood Brianna had while in foster care herself. We also learned that her past trauma was being used against her. Tarrant County OCOK/CPS now began to say that it isn't allegations of abuse that has laid the foundation to terminate Brianna's parental rights it is actually her past trauma that she endured as a child over 20 years ago. This blew the minds of many viewing the Pre-trial. We quickly learned that Brianna actually has been railroaded, and the story being told by OCOK was in fact false.
March 2021 just 2 days into the Termination Trial Brianna and her family legal team filed a motion for Mistrial. This motion filed because Brianna's civil rights were being violated, she was not being given a fair trial and the many technological issues within the trial itself prohibited Brianna to put up a strong defense to fight for her child.
The Motion was Granted. What does this mean? We fight to get Journi home to her mother. We have to use this time to continue standing for what we all know to be true and that is Brianna Baucum is INNOCENT and what is happening to her and her daughter is injustice. It is the epitome of the Child Welfare System.
