Tldr; Create an entity to manage railroad infrastructure,  encourage competition, reduce greenhouse emissions, increase freight and passenger service.

The railroads are the most profitable sector in America. To achieve record profits they are pillaging our remaining railroad infrastructure, firing customers,  shrinking their workforce, and subjecting them to terrible workplace policies. 

But the shareholders are happy, even as they move less and less freight each year. 

Because they're able to operate as duopolies on either side of the Mississippi, they can do as they wish without the threat of competition. 

We want President Biden and congress to nationalize our railroad infrastructure through the creation of a government agency that can manage our railroad infrastructure the same way our interstate highways and road are treated,  who would be in charge of maintaining, scheduling traffic, and building new railways.

This would encourage competition by allowing other operators to enter the market and bring innovation and competition to move more freight not less,  and allow amtrak and other private operators to increase and improve passenger services. Our railroads offer the most environmentally friendly way to ship freight and move people,  we need more, not less.
