Hoy, 10 de julio de 2023, otro toro inocente ha perdido la vida. Según vecinos mayores de Dénia, esta sería la séptima víctima, aunque muchos creen que la cifra real es aún mayor. Esta petición pretende reunir el mayor número posible de firmas de ciudadanos de Dénia. En algunas ciudades de España, los referéndums han sido un éxito, y por eso queremos intentarlo aquí también, confiando en que los votos sean legítimos y transparentes.

Si la mayoría de los habitantes fuera plenamente consciente del daño que causamos a los animales, no sería necesario discutir, protestar o votar; los ayuntamientos serían los primeros en prohibir semejante crueldad.

 
🌡 Las altas temperaturas hacen aún más peligrosos e inhumanos los festejos taurinos
En los últimos años, España vive episodios de calor extremo que ponen en riesgo la vida de cualquier persona y someten a los animales a un sufrimiento insoportable. Celebrar festejos taurinos en pleno verano, bajo temperaturas que superan los límites de seguridad, ya ha provocado múltiples tragedias humanas y un estrés físico insoportable para toros y vacas. Mantener estos eventos en condiciones climáticas tan extremas no solo es inseguro, sino profundamente irresponsable.

Es momento de que las autoridades y la sociedad tomen conciencia: las tradiciones deben evolucionar cuando ponen vidas en peligro y contradicen los valores de dignidad, compasión y coherencia ambiental que nuestra época exige con urgencia.

 
Confiamos en que la mayoría de los ciudadanos desea la abolición de la tauromaquia, y por eso debemos poder elegir. Para eso pagamos impuestos: para participar en una democracia limpia donde se puedan tomar decisiones inteligentes y compasivas que protejan a los animales.

Si la mayoría no quiere asistir ni apoyar festejos taurinos, solicitamos que se utilice un referéndum popular democrático para que todos los vecinos de Dénia podamos votar por una fiesta mejor, sin animales.

Existen nuevos tipos de celebraciones más modernas, creativas y divertidas, en las que puede participar toda la ciudadanía, no solo una minoría aficionada a los toros.

La tauromaquia es una práctica anticuada, triste y dañina; mata toros y vacas, perjudica la imagen de la ciudad y ofrece un mal ejemplo a los niños.

Pedimos que se eliminen los toros de la fiesta de la Santíssima Sang y se sustituyan por actividades más modernas y atractivas, como se muestra en el siguiente vídeo:  https://youtu.be/_KxR8Vktd

También queremos señalar que es una falta de respeto utilizar términos sagrados como la “Santa Sangre de Jesús” para justificar el maltrato animal. Según los evangelios, Jesús fue compasivo con todos los seres vivos y predicó el amor hacia todas las criaturas (Juan 10:30).

 
✊ Pedimos un referéndum para que los ciudadanos decidamos democráticamente el futuro de nuestras fiestas.
Debemos eliminar a los animales de cualquier celebración. No es adecuado honrar a Cristo involucrando toros u otros animales en actos de sufrimiento o humillación.

La mayoría de los vecinos de esta ciudad no quiere ver cada año a toros corriendo aterrados por las calles. Es cruel, anticuado y humillante, y ya ha provocado ahogamientos y muertes de vacas y toros en años anteriores.

Esta nueva propuesta sin duda atraerá más turistas a Dénia e inspirará a otras ciudades —como Jávea, Moraira y Benicarló— a abandonar también sus prácticas crueles de lanzar toros y vacas al mar. Así, todos los ciudadanos podrán disfrutar de la fiesta sin dañar, utilizar ni explotar a los animales.

On July 10th, 2023, another innocent bull lost its life. According to elderly residents of Dénia, this is the 7th victim, although many believe the real number is higher. This petition seeks to gather as many signatures as possible from the citizens of Dénia. In several Spanish cities, referendums have been successful, and that is why we want to try it here as well, trusting that the votes will be legitimate and transparent.

If the majority of residents were fully aware of the harm inflicted on animals, there would be no need to debate, protest, or vote; local governments would be the first to prohibit such cruelty.

 
🌡 Extreme heat makes bull-related festivities even more dangerous and inhumane
In recent years, Spain has experienced episodes of extreme heat that endanger human life and subject animals to unbearable suffering. Holding bull-related festivities in the middle of summer, under temperatures that exceed safe limits, has already caused multiple human tragedies and inflicts severe physical stress on bulls and cows. Continuing these events under such extreme climatic conditions is not only unsafe but profoundly irresponsible.

It is time for authorities and society to recognize that traditions must evolve when they put lives at risk and contradict the values of dignity, compassion, and environmental awareness that our era urgently demands.

 
We trust that the majority of citizens want the abolition of bullfighting, and for that reason, we must be allowed to choose. This is why we pay taxes: to participate in a clean democracy where intelligent, compassionate decisions can be made to protect animals.

If most residents do not want to attend or support bullfighting events, we request the use of a democratic public referendum so that all citizens of Dénia can vote for a better, animal-free celebration.

There are new types of festivities that are more modern, creative, and enjoyable, where all residents can participate—not just a small minority of bullfighting enthusiasts.

Bullfighting itself is outdated, sad, and harmful; it kills bulls and cows, damages the city’s image, and sets a poor example for children.

We ask that bulls be removed from the Santíssima Sang Festival and replaced with something more modern and attractive, as shown in the following video: https://youtu.be/_KxR8Vktd

We also wish to highlight that it is deeply disrespectful to mistreat animals while using sacred terms such as the “Holy Blood of Jesus” as justification. According to the Gospels, Jesus was compassionate toward all living beings and preached love for all creatures (John 10:30).

 
✊ We request a public referendum so that citizens can democratically decide the future of our festivities.
Animals must be removed from all celebrations. It is not appropriate to honor Christ by involving bulls or other animals in acts of suffering or humiliation.

Most residents of this city do not want to see bulls running terrified through the streets every year. It is cruel, outdated, and humiliating, and it has already caused drownings and deaths of cows and bulls in previous years.

This new proposal will undoubtedly attract more tourists to Dénia and inspire other towns—such as Jávea, Moraira, and Benicarló—to abandon their cruel practices of throwing bulls and cows into the sea. In this way, all citizens will be able to enjoy the festivities without harming, using, or exploiting animals.
