The Providence Parks Commissioners unanimously approve selling the Columbus statue to ex Providence Mayor Joseph Paolino for 50,000, just 10% of the estimated value of the statue. Paolino was slightly outbid by an out of state antiques dealer, but the Parks Commissioners chose Paolino's bid. Now that the statue is the private property of Paolino, he states he will "make phone calls" about it's new location. I will continue to monitor to protest the public display of the statue on public property in Providence.
