This Friday 02/12/2021 at noon, the Committee for Commemorative Works will be meeting to discuss the Columbus statue. They will be taking public comment. Below is the link the the meeting details and agenda.

It is unclear if a decision will be made on Friday as far as to the relocation/general fate of the statue. Or if subsequent time or meetings will be required of the special committee.

Remember that this committee is advisory only, and their recommendation will be ultimately given to the board of Parks Commissioners for the final decision. What the committee for Commemorative works recommends is important however, as Mayor Elorza has made a commitment to follow their direction, as chair of the board of Parks Commissioners, and the other board members will of course feel pressure to follow the advice of the committee as well.
