Article 308 in the Jordanian Penal Code states that: A rapist can escape punishment by agreeing on marrying their victim.
Although a rapist is clearly guilty, he has the opportunity to marry the victim even if the victim doesn't agree. This article is based on the mindset that
the victim is a disgrace for her family, therefor getting married is seen as a solution.
This petition aims to end this article to support all rape victims by ensuring that the law is there to protect them and punish rapists.
مادة 308 من قوانين العقوبات الأردني يعفي المغتصب من أي عقوبات إن وافق على الزواج من ضحيته. حتى ولو أن المغتصب مذنب إلا أنه يزف عريس والضحية تعاني طوال حياتها وهي مجبرة على الزواج من  مغتصبها, فهذه المادة تقتل روح وكيان الضحية وتجردّها من حقوقها كإنسان.
