Merci beaucoup à Illustration Québec et Culture Bas St-Laurent qui ont partagé dans leurs réseaux notre appel à la solidarité. Les illustrateurs et illustratrices du Québec, les artistes de la région du Bas St-Laurent et Gaspésie ont ajouté environ 300 signatures. Une belle grosse vague de soutien. 

Il y a généralement parlant un soutien vraiment extraordinaire de personnes de toutes disciplines. On aime nos artistes, notre culture, et les questions parlent à beaucoup de gens. 

Bref suivi de la semaine:

• La pétition sera rendue à 1400 d'ici la fin de la journée. 
• En tant que membre du Comité consultatif sur l'IA du Canada, j'ai demandé à ce que notre pétition soit mise à l'agenda pour notre prochaine rencontre. Ceci a été acceptée. J'ai vu des signatures en soutien après cet envoi. 
• L'article suivant a soulevé un grand intérêt de la part d'experts très reconnus en protection de la propriété intellectuelle des artistes et de protection de la vie privée. Ces questions seront aussi à l'agenda de la prochaine rencontre du Comité sur l'IA. 
• Une lettre a été envoyée au Conseil des arts du Canada ainsi qu'à tout les CARFAC, national et provinciaux. Je suis en attente d'une réponse. 
• Une lettre a été envoyée à certains instituts de recherche en IA. Nous sommes en attente d'une réponse. Je peux toutefois confirmer que les politiques actuelles, d'au moins l'un deux, ne limitent pas qui peut accéder au financement ni qui peut faire des recommandations en politiques publiques. Je devine que c'est la même chose dans les autres. La question même dérange...
• Nous aurons un autre gros souffle suite à mon passage à MozFest Amsterdam qui fera la promotion de la pétition. 

On continue!! Prochain objectif 2000! :-)

Huge thanks to everyone who has signed the petition!! There's been some amazing waves this week coming from Illustration Québec and Culture Bas St-Laurent. When organizations like those share with their members, I really see the numbers go up. Generally speaking, there's really extraordinary support from people of all disciplines. We love our artists, our culture, and the questions speak to a lot of people. 

Brief follow-up to the week:

• The petition will reach 1400 by the end of the day.
• As a member of Canada's AI Advisory Council, I asked that our petition be put on the agenda for our next meeting. This was accepted. I saw signatures in support after this mailing.
• The following article raised a great deal of interest from leading experts in the protection of artists' intellectual property and privacy. These issues will also be on the agenda for the next meeting of the AI Committee.
• A letter has been sent to the Canada Council for the Arts and to all CARFACs, national and provincial. I'm waiting for a reply.
• A letter has been sent to some AI research institutes. We are awaiting a reply. I can confirm, however, that, in at least one of those, current policies do not limit who can access funding or who can make public policy recommendations. My guess is none of them do. Just asking seems to bother.
• We'll have another big blast following my appearance at MozFest Amsterdam, which will promote the petition.
