Dear all,
As always, we like to keep you up to date on how the For Sama family is doing and where they're at in the world.
Dr Abo Saad
Do you remember the surgeon you watched in For Sama film, as he was saving an injured pregnant woman and her child? Dr Abo Saad is still saving lives in Idlib, Syria. He kindly gave us an update from the ground, which you can read in this blog here.
COVID-19 in Syria
The COVID-19 situation in Syria is at its worst since the epidemic broke out. The situation is far more critical than we can describe with the delta variant now spreading in northern Syria, a huge gap in vaccine distribution, and an already exhausted-by-war medical system. To shed some light on how terrible the situation is, we spoke to Dr.Mohamad and Marwan and they shared their thoughts with us from the COVID frontline in Idlib, Syria.
"We didn’t even have any oxygen cylinders at the time, but we had to accept him and do whatever we could to save his life", says Dr.Ahmad Sayeyd Yusef. Read more here.
And head to Instagram to listen to this powerful message from Marwan as he as he speaks from the inside of one of the isolation centers in Idlib.
Take action
To give the medical professionals in Syria a fighting chance against the pandemic, we’re joining the “Breath” campaign, aiming to secure 1000 oxygen cylinders every day. Join us by donating, or by urging others to donate through this tweet.
