Dear friends,
I am writing because this Friday 2 July, I will be at our Action For Sama mural in London that we launched on World Refugee Day, to host a special event with our friend Wafa Mustafa.
This Friday it will be 8 long years since Wafa's father, Ali Mustafa, was forcibly disappeared in Syria by the Assad regime.
To mark 2,922 days that have passed since his disappearance, we are inviting people to bring photos of detained loved ones to our wall in London, to remind the world who they are - and that they will never be forgotten. And we invite everyone to come and stand in solidarity with those whose loved ones are detained.
We will be virtually joining Wafa who is in Berlin, in demanding her father’s release as well as the freedom of the thousands of others that the dictatorial Syrian regime has unlawfully detained or disappeared.
Please join our event this Friday 2 July, in London
Time: 6pm London time
Where: Action For Sama wall, 83 Redchurch Street, E2 7DJ (map)
If you are able to join us please come to show support, take photos and share your memories. As we want to avoid crowding, we ask that you please respect social distancing rules and each other by keeping a safe distance apart.
There are also events taking place in Berlin and New York City, so please share information about them with any contacts you have there:
Thursday 1 July, New York City
Time: 6.30pm NYC time
Where: Updated address - 158 West 23rd Street, 10011, between 6th and 7th avenue
Friday 2 July, Berlin
Time: 7pm Berlin time
Where: Pariser Platz
It would mean so much to us and to Wafa if you could join us in person to show your support and solidarity.
With thanks,
Hamza & Waad
