Dear friends, 

I have some exciting news, and I want you to be among the first to hear about it. 

Three years ago, you all stood alongside me and my family in our last few months in Aleppo. As the bombs fell on schools and hospitals, I knew you were reading my updates and hearing my story. It made us feel less alone. 

Now my family’s story is being told again, but this time through film. 
During our time in Aleppo my wife, Waad, documented everything with her camera. She filmed the bad days and the good. The horrors of war and the joys of a new family. Now, almost three years after we left Aleppo for the last time, all that footage has been transformed into a documentary about our life there. It’s called For Sama, named for our beautiful daughter, and you can watch the trailer here.  

Over the next few months, For Sama will get a limited theatrical release in different countries around the world. You shared my family’s story then, and I want you to continue sharing it now. Far too often, Russia and the regime get to control the story of my country, spreading their propaganda far and wide.
