Join JAINA in making our Jain voices heard by the elected political leadership in India!

We, 150,000 Jains spread across over 70 Jain associations and centers based in the US and Canada, are deeply concerned and distressed by the following:

1. The unrest and unresolved issues in Jharkhand over the preservation of our most sacred Shri Sammed Shikharji Tirth located on Parasnath Parvathraj mountain range, and
2. Apparent inaction in Gujarat against reported encroachments, harassment of pilgrims, illegal activities, and vandalizing sacred monuments at Shri Shatrunjay (Palitana) and Shri Girnar Tirths.

With that, JAINA is sending official letters to:

• Home Minister, State Government of Gujarat, Hon. Shri Harsh Sanghvi 

JAINA's message to all the leaders is consistent with the requests for urgent actions voiced by our Jain brothers and sisters in India - i.e., preservation of the Jain pilgrimage sites, assuring the safety of worshippers, and the nation's respect for Jain beliefs and sentiments. 

The minority Jain community in India and those settled in over 40 diaspora nations have been greatly distressed by reports that the Government of Jharkhand is promoting tourism and other activities at our holiest site of Shri Sammed Shikharji. Such commercialization will result in the desecration of our Tirth’s sanctity, destruction of ecological balance, exploitation of land and the locals, and give rise to countless social evils, which is unacceptable. The Shri Shatrunjay Tirth in Palitana, Gujarat, is a unique heritage City of over 800 exquisite Jain temples on a single mountaintop. It deserves respect and protection from the people and government.
