Both of these approved, funded Light Rapid Transit (LRTs) lines will bring much needed rapid transit to neighbourhoods in  Malvern, Jane and Finch and Humber College. 

An update on the Three Cities report by U of T professor, David Hulchanski, shows the gap between the rich and the poor in Toronto is widening, with many low income families relegated to “transit deserts” in North East and North West Toronto.

The need to bring rapid transit to these neighbourhoods is echoed by York University Geography professor, Valerie Preston:

“If you bring a social justice perspective then it looks to me … that you really should emphasize the Finch LRT and the Sheppard LRT because those are the routes that bring the most service to the lowest income and largest minority population,”

Transit riders in Malvern and Jane and Finch have been waiting a long time for rapid transit to come to their neighbourhoods. It is simply unacceptable for them to be stuck with bus service for another twenty years. The Finch and Sheppard LRTs are funded and approved and will improve their ability to get around their respective communities. No more delays. No cancellations. Build the Sheppard and Finch LRTs now!
