The CAS shelter demanded justice against an accused hoarder, the Rabbit Community demands justice for the rabbits CAS sent to predator owners and farms.
A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was delivered to CEO Joe Elmore of Charleston Animal Society today 2/13/2016 by registered mail. Hopefully Joe will comply with Federal Law and provide transparency regarding the status, treatment and welfare of 70 domestic rabbits that remain hidden on 3 farms since 1/1/2016.

Halifax Humane Society has not responded to the FOIA delivered to CEO Miguel Abi-hassan on 1/21/2016 however, new responses on their Facebook wall have been posted without updates regarding proof of life, proper housing, medical care, adoption to families or spay & neuter validations. Halifax word is not Fact.

Questions Remain -
In the ABC News4 video you can review a Treatment Chart on the CAS wall for 12/28/16 the day after intake.

Despite claims of the rabbits being in poor condition there is no treatment plan other than 1 dose of Revolution for fleas and ear mites. Rabbits with flea infestations or mites often need more than one treatment following a few weeks apart. How did the rabbits receive extended care for fleas/mites when they were passed off on farms within 5 days?
News articles stated rabbits had Upper Respiratory issues and photos of such were posted on the shelters Facebook wall, yet there is no mention of treating them for URI'S on the CAS wall chart. Who treated the rabbits in Florida for follow up URI care?

News reports stated most animals were not properly fed and malnourished, were malnourished rabbits in the care of CAS and if so where they checked for Coccidia parasites? Were they diagnosed and treated for GI Stasis because rabbits can dehydrate in 24 hours and malnourished rabbits that have stopped eating or producing feces for 12 hours or more should be considered as an ER.

As prey animals, rabbits are adept at hiding illness until it's too late, are the said news articles accurate?
Are the 70 rabbits spayed & neutered and did they survive if proper Vetting was not provided or are they being bred on farms for profit?

CAS Quote:
"Charleston Animal Society staff will transport the bunnies in a climate-controlled van to the Halifax Humane Shelter in Daytona Beach, Chief Executive Officer Joe Elmore said Thursday".

"He expects the rabbits to be ready for adoption in about a week. Details will be posted on the shelter’s website at charlestonanimalsociety.org".

Sadly the provided link does not go to updates or details about the status of the rabbits but instead straight to a donation page. How many donations were received for the 70 domestic rabbits at CAS that were sent out of State to farms on day 5 of intake, did they receive the medical care and adoptive homes as promised?
As time passes so does hope for the rabbits having a happy ending. Where are the 70 confiscated rabbits Joe Elmore?
It is the opinion of the Petition supporters that you are responsible for each and every rabbit sent out of State to a kill shelter who immediately placed them in the hands of predator owners and farm owners. The 70 rabbits deserved the same respect and care you gave the cats and dogs.
For The Rabbits,
Linda Sue
