Last week, Senator Bernie Sanders and four other senators supported our movement by writing a letter to President Obama asking him to suspend all construction permits for the project until an environmental impact statement can be conducted. This comes after the Obama administration refused to re-authorize construction of the pipeline in spite of the fact that a federal appeals court recently denied the injunction our tribe filed against the project.
In other words, our legislators and President are beginning to stand up to Energy Transfer Partners and demand that they stop construction – but President Obama needs to do more.
Meanwhile, we are continuing to educate people about our campaign and stand in solidarity with other indigenous movements across the country. Over the past week, a few of our members traveled to New York City and Canada to speak at a fundraisers and meetings about this movement. You can see the photos here: http://bit.ly/2e0rh34.
Thank you to all who donated to our Amazon wishlist so far! Your help is so appreciated.
