Call the banks who fund DAPL
Oct 5, 2016 — Thank you to everyone who took to social media to remind the world that now is the time to stand up to this black snake. Today we have another action you can take to help!
You’ve probably heard that this project is funded by several banks, many of which you might be familiar with. It’s their money that makes this pipeline possible, and that supports the militarized police presence at our peaceful protests.
Will you help by calling the banks and asking them to withdraw their support for the pipeline? You can call any of them, but it will be particularly powerful if you call a bank where you are a customer! We are listening two bank phone numbers below, but you can find all 17 banks and their contact information in this YES! Magazine article: http://bit.ly/2ddtWGe.
CEO John Stumpf
CEO Michael Corbat
Not sure what to say to them? Here’s a script you can use:
“As a customer of [bank name] I was upset to learn that you are financially invested in the Dakota Access Pipeline, which threatens the water and livelihood of the Standing Rock Sioux and the thousands of people who live along the Missouri River. I’m calling to ask that you withdraw your financial support of and stake in the project immediately.”
Once you’ve called, leave a comment to let us know how it went!
