Friends,
I’d like to introduce my friend Tokata, who has been working with me every step of this campaign along with the other Standing Rock Youth. She is a passionate activist working to stop the Dakota Access Pipeline, and will be joining me as a starter on this campaign!
This week Tokata spoke about this movement to Truth-Out, alongside several other indigenous youth who are fighting climate change across North America. It was an honor to see our campaign included among so many young activists fighting to protect their ancestral homelands from exploitation. Read the article here: http://bit.ly/292zAJv
Members and allies of Standing Rock are still hard at work to stop this awful pipeline. With each week attendance at the Sacred Stone Spirit Camp grows, and we watch with sadness in our hearts as construction continues on the pipeline. Native activists are also taking part in canoe rides down the river to draw attention to the risks posed by the proposed Dakota Access Pipeline.
In the next few weeks the Oceti Sakowin Youth will organize a youth camp for young people to come together and organize against the project. From there we will have more updates on next steps to support the campaign and stop the Dakota Access Pipeline!
Sincerely,
Anna
