Petition is doing great, thank you to everybody who's signed, keep up the good work! A few updates:

1. A correction: I was incorrect in saying that the latest Bill in parliament hasn't been debated yet as it seems to have had its first and second reading. It was debated in committee 2 days ago (19th January), it's looking hopeful. It still has a number of stages to go through and there would be a 2-year lead time so it's important to still keep up the pressure on retailers. (Note, the Bill only proposes a prohibition on sale to the public, "professionals" would still be able to use them but only in "exceptional" circumstances and they'd have to apply for a licence.)

2. I wrote a letter to the petition 'targets' (directors of the company) on 11th January, alerting them to the petition and the number of signatories, and asked them to respond within 7 days. I have not received a response so am planning to flyer outside their shop. 

3. In terms of local developments one of the local councillors has now picked this up and will be speaking to the shop management himself. With luck this will have the desired effect but it may not, or it may mean that they stop selling them in this particular shop but not in other shops. The Hitchin shop is not their only outlet, if you have a 'Home Essentials' shop, or any other shop, selling glue traps where you live please make them aware that you have signed this petition.
