Are you surprised?? No... Disappointed yes!! While our provincial petition on Abolishing MSP Premiums in BC is growing stronger everyday, (http://bit.ly/no-msp) there was a Federal Petition that also circulated to help get the word around and up to the federal level as to our plight here in BC. Here was that petition (https://petitions.parl.gc.ca/en/Petition/Details?Petition=e-490) As you can see by the signatures by province, this was a very important issue to us here in BC. .... The response from Joel Lightbound, Minister of Health can be found here....(http://www.parl.gc.ca/Content/HOC/ePetitions/Responses/421/e-490/421-01116_HC_E.pdf) Basically, the Feds won't do anything for us because: 1) Failure to pay doesn't affect coverage.... but hey, the province will ruin your credit or take your tax returns if you don't pay 2) The BC Lib's will eliminate MSP premiums over time... but hey, only if they get re-elected. Well Joel, BC doesn't think that passing the buck back to the BC Liberals is a good enough response. You can email him here Joel.Lightbound@parl.gc.ca . You can send him this note if you like: Dear Joel, Your response to our federal petition was a sad response and did nothing to help us feel that the Federal Liberals care about BC. While failing to pay for the MSP Premiums doesn't affect our ability to get coverage, it does affect our credit ratings and our tax returns. Telling us that Christy is going to abolish them anyways so you don't have to do anything is NOT an answer, as this is dependent on whether or not she gets in and there is a contract with Maximus until 2020. A concerned BC citizen Thank you for letting Joel know just how we feel. You can also find him on twitter @JoelLightbound
