This is possibly the most important day in this campaign. The Senate Appropriations Committee is meeting TODAY to decide our fate through the next Fiscal Year. While we will keep pressure on the Governor to release this fiscal year's money, right now we have to focus on the Senate It's now or never people. Whether you are at work today or at home, please take five minutes out of your day to email and call the following Senators we've identified as the most important to contact. If you would like to send them all an email at once, I've included their emails at the bottom separated so that you can copy and paste them into your email client. Please send them a quick note and tell them how important libraries are to you and ask them to restore full funding! Sample script (please edit for some individuality if you use it): Dear Senator, With 30 million visits last year, Missouri libraries are an important resource for so many people across the state. They provide internet access to those who otherwise couldn't access it and are integral in helping many Missourians find employment. Libraries provide summer reading programs so that students can learn all year long and they see millions of children participate every year. As you are meeting, please consider restoring the $3.1 million in REAL money so that people in rural areas can continue to access the internet and please restore the $3.5 million general revenue fund to libraries. Without this money, libraries across the State will suffer. Thank you. MISSOURI CONSTITUTION, Article IX (Education), Section 10 “It is hereby declared to be the policy of the state to promote the establishment and development of free public libraries and to accept the obligation of their support by the state and its subdivisions and municipalities in such manner as may be provided by law. When any such subdivision or municipality supports a free library, the general assembly shall grant aid to such public library in such manner and in such amounts as may be provided by law.” Emails for copy/paste: kurt.schaefer@senate.mo.gov; ryan.silvey@senate.mo.gov; shalonn.curls@senate.mo.gov; mike.kehoe@senate.mo.gov; david.pearce@senate.mo.gov; dan.brown@senate.mo.gov; mparson@senate.mo.gov; Jamilah.Nasheed@senate.mo.gov; Other contact info: Sen Kurt Schaefer Chair Appropriations Committee kurt.schaefer@senate.mo.gov (573) 751-3931 Sen.
