Stop the closure of Havelock After School Club in Southall

Stop the closure of Havelock After School Club in Southall

The Issue

Havelock After School Club in Southall, London Borough of Ealing is at serious risk of being axed, to meet council budget savings over the next two years. If this proposal is implemented, the London Borough of Ealing Play Service will cease operating this after school club in July 2016. If this after school child care provision ceases to operate, this will seriously disadvantage working parents, residing in an area of high socio economic deprivation with a real and serious risk of job losses and further impoverishment. Parents whose children attend Dairy Meadow, Havelock and Three Bridges primary schools, depend upon this local high quality, reasonably priced and well regulated child care resource. Without it, the life chances of children growing up in an area of high unemployment, low income households and over crowded social housing, may be compromised. Please don't be put off from signing because of the localism of this issue. As councils set their budget for the new financial year, the threat to Play Services is a nationwide issue and deserves prominence. I urge Ealing Council to find an alternative way to make the financial cut without ceasing Havelock After School Club.  The council's decision will be made by 22nd April 2016, so please support my campaign now.
