"Sonic The Hedgehog 2 The Movie" NEEDS "Live and Learn" and "Open Your Heart" by Crush 40
The Issue
Edit: We didn’t make this goal for the 2022 Sonic 2 movie, but maybe we can make this happen for the Sonic 3 movie. There is going to be a heavier emphasis on the Adventure series so the music considered would be an even better fit! If you want to see this happen share the petition! The filmmakers are obviously fellow fans, they want our voices to be heard!
Sonic The Hedgehog (2020) did mostly everything right by the fans of the Sonic franchise, with cameos ranging from the various games in the universe, and having the characters feel like they’re the characters in the game! You gave us the nods to the levels we love, and nods to the cartoons we grew up on. I think we can all agree there is no better Eggman than Jim Carrey himself, and Ben Schwartz captured the perfect tone, timbre, and personality of the Sonic we knew and loved in the Adventure series. You even fixed the CGI character design to be the Sonic we loved after the sonic fans refused the first model! You did an incredible fan service.
But!
The one thing you didn’t give us was the music. While the music direction is absolutely brilliant as it stands, if you search the web for Sonic The Hedgehog scenes, you’ll notice that there has a become a new genre of YouTube video, where Sonic fans are dubbing in classic Sonic songs to major action sequences of the movie.
Fans have held on to, and love these classic songs that have defined their generation of Sonic fandom and are now creating cheap YouTube hacks of your movie to experience those classic songs in a full live action setting.
You showed us you recognize how important the music is to the Sonic universe by featuring the Green Hill Zone theme in the epilogue of the movie.
Give us the real thing! Give the fans the experience of wonderment and excitement that we all hope for when we pay our $9.26 to sit in front of the big screen for the next Sonic The Hedgehog Movie.
This petition is asking you the filmmakers of the next Sonic The Hedgehog Movie to feature Crush 40s “Open Your Heart” and “Live and Learn” as major themes for major action sequences in the next Sonic The Hedgehog Film.
Two contemporary songs are featured in two separate scenes of your movie. One being the bar fight scene where you featured the song “Boom” by X Ambassadors with the other song being “Where Evil Grows” during the Robotnik dance scene. (Side note this scene was brilliant and I think will become a fan favorite for years to come).
I bring this up because it’s clear that you as a filmmaker are not against contemporary music in your films and I do think you chose brilliantly. But please take a moment to see how the fans are engaging to the YouTube videos that overdub the Sonic The Hedgehog Movie to clsssic Sonic themes, such as “Open Your Heart” and “Live and Learn”. I will post the links below.
To fans of the Sonic universe. It is often said that we are divided in which games we regard as the true classics whether it be Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic 3&K, The Adventure series, Sonic 06, etc etc.
However, Sonic fans, please sign this petition and show filmmakers that you love the movie they’re making for us and that you want more parts of your Sonic world incorporated into the movie.
Lastly, im sure we can all agree. “Open Your Heart” or “Live and Learm” would sound amazing with Sonic fighting Robotnik at the Death Egg in this upcoming movie!
