Amazon Deforestation - Demand The EU Trade Sanctions Brazil

Amazon Deforestation - Demand The EU Trade Sanctions Brazil
The Issue
Deforestation in the Brazilian Amazon rainforest rose more than 88% in June 2019 compared with the same month in 2018.
In August 2019, thousands of wildfires were burning leading to an area the size of the UK being alight. Many of these fires are thought to have been started with the aim of deforestation.
The Amazon rainforest is vitally important. It produces 20% of the oxygen in the Earth's atmosphere and is essential in slowing global warming. Brazil's President Jair Bolsonaro has encouraged the deforestation of the Amazon.
The EU is Brazil's second-biggest trading partner, accounting for 18.3% of its total trade
Due to environmental abuses of the Bolsonaro government, we the undersigned demand that the EU imposes trade sanctions against Brazil, or an embargo against the importation of Brazilian products.
