Puyallup Water Warriors & Redefine Tacoma
9 abr 2018
Last week a Tacoma jury found Steve Way innocent of criminal trespass. Steve is one of the two heroes who locked themselves to the crane at the construction site of the PSE LNG facility on December 11, 2017. This is the second jury to validate the Puyallup Tribe's ownership and Treaty-protected fishing/harvesting rights in the tidelands. Brilliant attorney Blake Kremer, along with tribal elder Ramona Bennett and Puyallup member Dakota Case were astounding, powerful expert witnesses and made a crystal clear case for their sovereignty and for Steve Way's right to be on their land. Jurors were strongly affected by their testimony and expressed Ramona and Dakota's words were important to their decision. Also after the trial, several of the jurors expressed they wanted to stand with Steve and the community in some way. As more and more people learn about Treaty rights and violations, and about the dangers of fracking and LNG, our community grows ever larger. Watch Native Daily Network (NDN) interview with Dakota Case talking about the trial and verdict. https://bit.ly/2IFzner Call Gov. Jay Inslee at (360) 902-4111 and tell him to shut this unpermitted disaster down. Please keep sharing and signing the petition change.org/TacomaLNG.
