Janet Jackson is a global phenomenon. She is one of the few female artists to have a #1 hit in every decade since the 1980s,has had five back-to-back #1 albums (Control,Rhythm Nation,janet.,The Velvet Rope,and All For You),is the third most successful African American touring artist of all time (behind Tina Turner and her brother Michael Jackson) and her accomplishments go on. However there has been one discrepancy that has faced the Janet fan community for many years: only two of Janet's six tours have been officially released on DVD. Let's break down everything we know:

Rhythm Nation Tour: This was the most successful debut tour of any solo artist in the world. This concert was professionally filmed in Tokyo,Japan and was broadcast nationally on Japanese television,also tying in with a promotional campaign for JAL Airlines. However,the concert has only been broadcast once in Japan and while it has been uploaded on the Internet,the quality is not very good due to the fact that the concert is a VHS rip from television.

janet. Tour: This tour is the only one where not a lot of known professional concerts have been filmed. Many MTV specials that aired around this time only broadcast the opening number (If) and a couple other songs (Rhythm Nation,Because Of Love,etc.). There's also two live music videos that were released featuring footage of the tour (Because Of Love & What'll I Do).

With the Rhythm Nation & janet. tours,Janet along with many other popular artists,signed a contract with Pioneer Entertainment to release Laserdiscs of their concerts. Janet was one of the few who never did. Her contract still is active to this day. Janet has previously stated that she would be releasing these concerts in conjunction with a future new album,but she has not specified when this would occur.

Rock Witchu Tour: Janet unfortunately did not perform long on this tour,but there is a professional recording of her Staples Center show. The problem is the recording is terrible and is chopped up awkwardly,which would make for a new release.

Number Ones - Up Close & Personal Tour: It has been rumored that the shows in London at the Royal Albert Hall were professionally filmed for a DVD,but no mention has been made for any DVD release as of yet. There are no professional recordings of this tour available.

Which is why I'm calling to action for Janet to please release these tours on DVD while we wait for your highly anticipated comeback. Please please PLEASE Janet!
