I am calling on Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) to take responsibility for a systematic engine defect affecting thousands of customers worldwide.
My own 2019 Land Rover Discovery Sport suffered a critical timing chain failure at only 110,000 km. This is not an isolated case. Owners of vehicles with JLR’s Ingenium engines have reported identical failures, often well before reasonable engine life.

A timing chain is supposed to last the lifetime of the engine. When it fails early, it causes catastrophic and extremely expensive damage — often requiring a full engine replacement. Yet JLR continues to deny assistance, blaming customers for supposed “missed services” or “age,” even when full service records exist.

In my case, JLR Germany refused support despite documented servicing, and JLR UK has ignored my escalation entirely. This leaves consumers with bills of €7,000–€12,000 for an issue that is clearly a design defect, not ordinary wear.

This must stop.
We demand that Jaguar Land Rover:
1.    Acknowledge the widespread timing chain failures in Ingenium engines.
2.    Launch a recall or service campaign to fix affected vehicles.
3.    Reimburse or assist owners already affected by premature timing chain failure.

As a premium brand, Jaguar Land Rover owes its customers reliability, transparency, and fairness. Ignoring this issue damages trust not just in Land Rover, but in the entire automotive industry.
