J.M. Smucker: Remove artificial dyes from kids’ foods—follow Kraft Heinz’s lead
The Issue
As a parent, I pay attention to what’s in the food I give my child. And like many families, we’ve relied on J.M. Smucker brands for years—Uncrustables, Jif peanut butter, Smucker’s jams, and even Hostess snacks.
But now that Kraft Heinz has committed to removing all artificial dyes from its U.S. products by 2027, I’m asking J.M. Smucker to do the same.
Many of your products marketed to kids—like Uncrustables and Hostess cakes—still contain synthetic dyes like Red 40, Yellow 5, and Blue 1. These dyes have been linked to hyperactivity, allergic reactions, and cancer risks in animal studies.
The FDA is phasing these dyes out. Parents are avoiding them. Other companies are stepping up.
We’re calling on J.M. Smucker to:
- Eliminate FD&C synthetic dyes from all food and beverage products
- Use safe, natural color alternatives
- Match Kraft Heinz’s 2027 timeline—or beat it
- Remove artificial dyes from any product marketed to children
This is about health, transparency, and trust. No child needs bright colors more than they need safe ingredients.
Please sign this petition if you agree: J.M. Smucker should protect the families who trust its brands—and remove artificial dyes for good.
