Petition to allow youth tennis USTA tournaments
The Issue
USTA youth tournaments are a very safe way to have fun and play tennis. There has been no cases of COVID-19 while they were open, so I see no reason for them to be shut down. 5 examples of things they do prevent COVID-19 are these. Before the match while you’re waiting you must where a mask at all times, both players have different ball containers, you can’t come in the building more than ten minutes before a match, there can only be one spectator for each player, and you must use hand sanitizer every time you enter the building. Governor Pritzker has always advocated for tennis, and opened it on May 1st including golf. We are the only state in the entire USA that does not allow USTA tournaments. Even the hotspots, and red states are allowing USTA youth tournaments. We should not have to travel to a red state to play a USTA tennis tournament. USTA youth tournaments should be allowed in Illinois ASAP
