Honourable Governor,

On 14th December 2018 it will be the 100th birth anniversary of Yogāchārya BKS IYENGAR. The international community of his followers has named an āsana after him as a recognition of his immeasurable contribution to the world of yoga. You will find full details about the Iyengarāsana Project at the bottom of this email.

BKS IYENGAR spent most of his life in Pune and was one of the city's most esteemed citizen. We sent a suggestion to the Mayor of Pune to consider commissioning a memorial of BKS IYENGAR in his own āsana to adorn a public space of the city. The city of Pune has become the main attraction in Maharashtra for yoga practitioners worldwide. The Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute is visited by thousands of seekers every year and in 2017 received an award from the Prime Minister for its outstanding contribution in the promotion and development of Yoga. More recently the National Geographic Magazine listed the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute as one of the places in the world that will change your life. A MEMORIAL OF BKS IYENGAR in the city of Pune would be a wonderful tribute the city can offer to one of the greatest Yogī of our times.
