The Issue

All BC citizens who believe in healing, safety, and accountability

📣 We, the undersigned, stand with S.O.U.L. – Speaking Out, Uniting Lives.

We are community members, survivors, family members, and frontline voices who are done being silent while our systems enable addiction, fail recovery, and leave families and vulnerable people behind.

We support:

Housing with healing

Detox and treatment beds, not just harm-reduction beds

Safe shelters for everyone — including women, families, and people in recovery

Accountability for public dollars given to organizations that fail to deliver

A future where recovery is not just possible — but prioritized

❌ What’s happening now:

Overdose deaths are at record highs — 2,511 in BC in 2023 alone

Millions in funding is going to programs with no exit plan and no treatment access

Low-barrier housing is being built with no on-site recovery services

Organizations like Lift receive public land and millions in grants, while people inside get no clear path to healing

Families and people not using drugs are denied shelter access, while active use is prioritized

Those trying to get sober are trapped in environments where fentanyl is everywhere

🛑 THIS IS NOT COMPASSION.

THIS IS NEGLECT.

We are demanding a shift:

From warehousing addiction to supporting recovery

From silencing voices to lifting lived experience

From profiting off pain to investing in hope

✅ WE DEMAND:

1. Immediate investment in detox, treatment, and trauma-informed recovery beds

2. Creation of inclusive, drug-free shelter spaces for families, seniors, women, and people in recovery

3. Full audit of publicly funded organizations like Lift to ensure transparency and outcomes

4. Public accountability for the use of public land, public money, and public trust

5. A clear shift from harm-only to healing-first approaches

✍️ SIGN THIS PETITION if you believe:

✔️ Everyone deserves access to recovery
✔️ Our public funding must serve the public good
✔️ Families and people seeking safety deserve shelter too
✔️ People are dying in systems that were meant to save them
✔️ We must speak out, unite lives, and demand better — now

This is our line in the sand.
S.O.U.L. will not be silent.
We are Speaking Out. We are Uniting Lives.
And we are calling on YOU to stand with us.
