IT’S BIGGER THAN TRACK! BRING COACH P BACK TO EVANS HIGH SCHOOL!

The Issue

I was recently informed that my services were no longer needed at Evans High School.  For the past four years I’ve been the Girls Head Coach for Cross Country and Track and Field. To some, I could just go coach anywhere else and keep helping with the success of girls track and cross country. But at Evans High School for me, it was not about the success, but the gratitude in which I gained from being able to come back to the place I grew up to give back, pour into the lives of so many underprivileged/at risk teenagers, teach and mentor, minister and love on, support in ways you could never imagine, and my list extends! I’ve served for years in Pine Hills, purchased a home in Pine Hills, my son just enrolled at Evans, my dependent attended this last year, ran track, and is going into her sophomore year as a straight A-IB student, and need I add— I would like to REMAIN in Pine Hills because MY HEART IS IN PINE HILLS AND I BELIEVE IN THE FUTURE OF PINE HILLS!

I have been developing many of these athletes for the past 7-8 years of their track and field careers, and the decision made by Evans School Administration to dismiss me as a non faculty paid coach, has negatively impacted their personal development. For some it has created discouragement moving forward into their last season as a high school athlete. The phone call that I had to make to them was beyond devastating. Their hearts were more than broken. And this is a part of why I don’t want to give up— this fight is about them!!!

I’m in need of your support of rallying behind me to bring me back as the Head Coach at Evans High School. Stand with me!!! Sign and Share this petition, call  and email Evans High School Administration and get them to overturn their decision!!! They have the power to change this and with your help, maybe they will!! I pray that they will see how important it is to have someone as myself pouring into our Pine Hills community, Evans High School, and lives of those affected and the future of those who could be!!!

Here are 10 reasons why we are signing this petition:

•Ability to bring kids athletic dreams into fruition

•Passion and purpose to break the barriers of systemic beliefs of economical and social deprived youth

•History of success as regards to individual championship titles, college degrees, full scholarships, and restoring personal and family matters

•Proactive coach trying to cultivate positive environments with alternative methods that will keep them on the right track

•The ability to build strong trusting and lasting relationships

•Dedication and devotion to the development of the athletes mental, physical, and social abilities

•Community ties through leadership, service, and mentorship

•Relatable to the environment, experiences, goals, and desires of the athletes

•Current resident with commitment of continuing the unprecedented labor within our community, schools, and lives of the youth

•Associated with a lineage of servitude at Evans High School, and the surrounding communities

When I started, there were barely 3 girls on the team. My very first year there we had nearly 25 girls to join, run, and do well academically, socially, and athletically. Since then, our numbers have stayed consistent and have grown in success. Over those four years, I have had a 90% rate of girls I coached, be recruited by D1 schools, and get full scholarships for track and academics for college. I have helped the school receive numerous awards and wins as a team and have produced 5 state championship titles, in four years but three actual seasons due to the pandemic year. I have also had 8 girls be state champions in the state of Florida with 3 being 2x state champions. Overall, my tenure in the community and for athletics have been one that I humbly dedicate and commit myself to. I believe in academics, and I believe in athletics. I've been mentoring our youth since before I graduated college, and because sports helped pave the way for me, I teach them the importance of everything else that's connected to that success, to truly achieve their goals. If we petition to bring me back as the Head Coach, I will continue to do what I’ve been doing! I will exceed above the expectations and make it a priority of mine to fulfill the promises of what I’ve been called to do!
